NC MST Segment 10

Segment 10 of the Mountains-to-Sea Trail runs along Eno River and the southern shore of Falls Lake for 79.3 miles.  This segment is called Eno River & Falls Lake as it follows these bodies of water.  The trail runs from Pleasant Green in Eno River State Park in Orange County to the Falls Lake Dam in Wake County.  The entire section is on trails except for occasional road crossings.

Route:

The western trailhead is at Pleasant Green in Eno River State Park.  The trail follows Laurel Bluffs, Eno Quarry, Cabe Lands and Pump Station Trails through the park, being double-blazed as it piggybacks on the park's other trails.  At Guess Road in Durham, the trail goes under the road and leads through West Point on the Eno to Roxboro Road.  The trail continues to follows the river down to Penny's Bend Nature Preserve, after which it heads towards Falls Lake.  The trail then piggybacks on Falls Lake Trail along the south shore of the lake, primarily through Butner-Falls of Neuse Game Land.  The trail also runs through two areas of Falls Lake State Recreation Area and Blue Jay Point County Park.  Near the eastern end, the trail passes Annie Louise Wilkerson, MD Nature Preserve.  The eastern trailhead for this segment is at the Falls Lake Dam in Raleigh.
