Mount Rogers National Recreation Area

Mount Rogers National Recreation Area is a district of Jefferson National Forest consisting of forest lands in southwest Virginia, roughly from Wytheville to Bristol.  It is bordered by the Eastern Divide Ranger District to the northeast.   The district headquarters are located in Marion.  This district contains numerous camping and day use recreation areas and miles of trails, including the Appalachian Trail, Virgina Creeper Trail and Virginia Highlands Horse Trail.  The area's namesake is Mount Rogers, the highest point in Virginia.

Seng Mountain National Scenic Area:


Seng Mountain Scenic Area protects an area of the Iron Mountains around Seng Mountain in Smyth County.


Virginia Creeper Trail:


The Virginia Creeper Trail runs 34 miles through southwest Virginia, with the eastern half within the forest.
