Eastern Divide Ranger District (Jefferson)

The Eastern Divide Ranger District of Jefferson National Forest consists of forest lands in southwest Virginia, roughly from Wytheville to Roanoke, and includes a small area in West Virginia.  It is bordered by Mount Rogers National Recreation Area to the southwest and the James River and Glenwood-Pedlar Ranger Districts to the northeast.  The district headquarters are located in Blacksburg.  This district contains numerous camping and day use recreation areas and miles of trails, including the Appalachian Trail.

Cascades Day Use Area:


Cascades Day Use Area provides access to Cascades National Recreation Trail leading to its namesake 66-foot waterfall.


Roaring Run Day Use Area:


Roaring Run Day Use Area has picnic areas and nature trails along a scenic creek with waterfalls and a historic iron furnace.
