Virginia Creeper Trail

The Virginia Creeper Trail is a 34-mile long National Recreation Trail from Abingdon to Whitetop Station in southwest Virginia.  Formerly a railroad line through the mountains, the multi-use trail has become a premier destination for hiking, biking and horseback riding.  The western portion of the trail, between Abingdon and Damascus, is managed by the two towns.  From Damascus to the Whitetop Station, the trail runs through Mount Rogers National Recreation Area and is managed by Jefferson National Forest.  Outfitters in Damascus and Abingdon provide bike rentals and shuttle service.
