Ellicott Rock Wilderness

Ellicott Rock Wilderness is a 8,300-acre Wilderness Area in North CarolinaSouth Carolina and Georgia.  Ellicott Rock on the Chattooga River marks the spot where the three states come together.  The wilderness is located in Nantahala National ForestSumter National Forest and Chattahoochee National Forest.  The wilderness was designated by Congress in 1975 and expanding the area in 1986.  The area is named for Major Andrew Ellicott who surveyed the area and was tasked with locating the 35th parallel to settle a border dispute between Georgia and North Carolina.  Major Ellicott inscribed "N-G" on a rock on the Chattooga River to designate the state line.

Ellicott Rock Trail leads from a trailhead on Bull Pen Road down to Chattooga River at Ellicott Rock.

Spoonauger Falls is a 50-foot waterfall on a tributary of Chattooga River in South Carolina.


Upper Scotsman Falls:


Upper Scotsman Falls is a 25-foot waterfall just off Bull Pen Road.
