Chattahoochee National Forest

Chattahooche National Forest is a 750,00 acre forest in northern Georgia.  It is administrated jointly with Oconee National Forest in eastern Georgia.  Combined, the forests cover more than 860,000 acres of public land.  The national forest is named for the Chattahoochee River, which originates in the north Georgia mountains.  Lands in north Georgia were originally included in Cherokee National Forest.  In 1936, Chattahoochee was proclaimed a separate forest to recognize state boundaries.
