Chattooga River District Chattahoochee

The Chattooga River District of Chattahoochee National Forest covers 260,000 acres in northeast Georgia.  The district is named for the Chattooga River, which forms the boundary between Georgia and South Carolina and is designated as a National Wild and Scenic River.  Georgia's second highest point, Rabun Bald at 4,696 feet above sea level, is located within the district.

Lake Rabun Beach Recreation Area:


Lake Rabun Beach Recreation Area provides beach access, camping and trails on the shore of Lake Rabun southwest of Clayton.


Rabun Bald:


Rabun Bald is the second highest point in Georgia.  A lookout tower at the summit provides great views of the surrounding landscape.



Three Forks:


Three Forks is located in extreme northeast Georgia where Big Creek, Overflow Creek and Holcomb Creek come together.
