Rabun Bald (Chattahoochee)

Rabun Bald is the second highest point in Georgia at 4,696 feet above sea level and highest point in Rabun County.  The surrounding land is part of the Chattooga River Ranger District of Chattahoochee National Forest.  There are numerous trails and old roads through the area, including the long-distance Bartram Trail.  There are also several waterfalls along the creeks flowing down from Rabun Bald.

Holcomb Creek Trail (#52):


Holcomb Creek Trail makes a 1-mile partial loop connecting with FR-86.  There are three scenic waterfalls along the trail.

Ammons Creek Falls:


Ammons Creek Falls is a 60-foot waterfall on its namesake just upstream of the confluence with Holcomb Creek.


Holcomb Creek Falls:


Holcomb Creek Falls is a spectacular waterfall over 100 feet high.


Holcomb Creek Upper Falls:


Upper Holcomb Creek Falls is a 20-foot waterfall upstream of the main falls.


Rabun Bald:


Rabun Bald is the second-highest point in Georgia.  The summit is accessed by the Bartram Trail and there is an observation tower at the summit that provides spectacular views.
