Blue Ridge Ranger District Chattahoochee

The Blue Ridge Ranger District of Chattahoochee National Forest covers the central portion of the forest in North Georgia.  The district is named for the Blue Ridge Mountains that traverse the district.  The district contains numerous recreation areas any many miles of hiking trails.  Georgia's highest point, Brasstown Bald, is located in the district as well as the southern trailhead of the Appalachian Trail.  The district office is located in Blairsville.

Brasstown Bald:


Brasstown Bald is the highest point in Georgia.  There is a picnic area and paved trail to the visitor center and lookout tower at the summit.


High Shoals Scenic Area:


High Shoals Scenic Area has a hiking trail leading to two scenic waterfalls in the Swallow Creek Wildlife Management Area.
