Uncompahgre National Forest

Uncompahgre National Forest is a nearly one million-acre National Forest in western Colorado.  The forest contains lands in the northern San Juan Mountains and the arid Uncompahgre Plateau and is administered jointly with Grand Mesa National Forest and Gunnison National Forest.  The forest was established in 1905, combined with Grand Mesa in 1954 and Gunnison was added 1973.  The combined forests are headquartered in Delta.  The forest contains three wilderness areas, skiing areas, campgrounds and hundreds of miles of trails.

Ranger Districts:


Norwood Ranger District:


The Norwood Ranger District is located in two areas around Telluride and Norwood.


Ouray Ranger District:


The Ouray Ranger District comprises lands in the northern San Juan Mountains and Uncompaghre Plateau.
