The Ouray Ranger District of
Uncompahgre National Forest comprises forest lands in two discontiguous segments. The southern segment is located in the northern San Juan Mountains surrounding the town of Ouray. The northern segment is in the Uncompahgre Plateau southwest of Montrose. The district contains several campgrounds, scenic driving and hundreds of miles of hiking trails.
