Whaleback Falls (Davidson)

Whaleback Falls is an 8-foot waterfall on Davidson River in Transylvania County, North Carolina.  The waterfall is located in Pisgah National Forest.

Directions:

From Brevard, head east on US-276/US-64 to where they split and turn left to stay on US-276.  Drive north for 5.3 miles and turn left on Forest Road 475 towards Pisgah Center for Wildlife Education.  Go 3.1 to a small parking area on the left just before a single-lane bridge.

Hike Description:

An obvious path leads from the parking area following Cove Creek to the confluence with Davidson River.  There is a campsite here and its right by the top of the falls.  Turn left and go a short ways to a steep scramble path down to river level and a view of the waterfall.  There is a nice swim hole here.
