Stearns Ranger District (Daniel Boone)

The Stearns Ranger District of Daniel Boone National Forest encompasses more than 170,000 acres of forest across four counties in southeastern Kentucky.  Much of this district lies in the South Fork region of the Cumberland River and it surrounds the Big South Fork National River and Recreation Area.  Additionally, two state Wild Rivers, Rock Creek and Cumberland, flow through the district.  There are three campgrounds, three picnic areas and more than 120 miles of trails for hiking, including the Sheltowee Trace Trail.
