Green River Game Land

Green River Game Land is a 15,075-acre North Carolina Game Land surrounding the Green River Gorge in Henderson and Polk County.  In addition to hunting and fishing, the area is very popular with hiking and whitewater paddling.  Green River is one of the premier whitewater destinations on the east coast.  Additionally, there are numerous waterfalls on the many creeks in the area.

Long Ridge Trail


Long Ridge Trail is a gated road that starts from a parking area along Big Hungry Road.


Waterfalls:


A number of scenic waterfalls are located within Green River Game Land.

Case Falls:


Case Falls is a waterfall on a tributary of Hungry River.


Creekside Falls:


Creekside Falls is a small waterfall on a tributary of Cove Creek along Bradley Falls Trail.


Emily Falls:


Emily Falls is a small waterfall on Bishop Branch.


Little Bradley Falls:


Little Bradley Falls is a beautiful 40-foot waterfall on Cove Creek.


Milton Bradley Falls:


Milton Bradley Falls is a scenic 40-foot waterfall on Little Cove Creek.


Stairstep Falls


Stairstep Falls is a scenic sectioned waterfall on a tributary of Green River.


Upper Waterfall on Hungry River:


Upper Waterfall on Hungry River is a roadside waterfall below an old dam.


Wildlife:


White snakeroot (Ageratina altissima) is a poisonous plant that causes milk poisoning if ingested by cows.
