Delaware Water Gap National Recreation Area

Delaware Water Gap National Recreation Area is a 69,269-acre National Park unit along the Middle Delaware River in Pennsylvania and New Jersey.  The park protects natural resources while providing for outdoor recreation opportunities on the river and surrounding lands.  The recreation area was originally established as part of the Tocks Island Dam project.  When the project was abandoned, the land was transferred to the National Park Service.  Today, the park has opportunities for water activities on the river, over 100 miles of hiking trails including a section of the Appalachian Trail and numerous waterfalls.
