Buttermilk Falls (Delaware Water Gap)

Buttermilk Falls is an 80-foot waterfall on a tributary of Flat Brook in Sussex County, New Jersey.  The waterfall is located in Delaware Water Gap National Recreation Area.

Directions:


From Newton, head north on US-206 for about 5 miles and turn left to stay on US-206.  Go another 7 miles and turn left on Struble Road.  Drive 3.9 miles and turn right on Tillman Road.  Go 1 mile and turn left onto Mountain Road at Walpack Cemetery.  Drive 2 miles down Mountain Road and park on the right at the Buttermilk Falls parking.  If Mountain Road is closed, you can park at the gate and hike down the road 2 miles one way to the waterfall.

Hike Description:


The waterfall is visible from the road so no real hiking involved.  The waterfall is one of the highest in New Jersey.  It is on a small creek so best to visit after heavy rain.
