Appalachia Trailhead (White Mountain)

The Appalachia Trailhead and surrounding area is located in the northern Presidential Range in the Androscoggin Ranger District of White Mountain National Forest.  The main trailhead is located on US-2 just west of Gorham.  As a very popular area, the trailhead fills quickly but parking on the road is permitted and other parking is available.  Numerous trails start in the area providing access to Mount Adams, Mount Madison and the alpine huts.  Additionally, there is a tremendous number of waterfalls in the area.

Directions:

From Gorham, head west on US-2 for 5.4 miles past the split with NH-16 and the parking area will be on the left. This is a popular trailhead and fills quickly. Parking is permitted along US-2, but ensure your vehicle is completely off the road.
