The Tusquitee Ranger District in Nantahala National Forest covers almost 160,000 acres in the extreme southwest corner of North Carolina in Cherokee and Clay Counties. The district contains 3 large mountain lakes (Hiwassee, Chatuge and Appalachia) and 2 major rivers (Hiwassee and Valley Rivers) in addition to hiking, camping and picnicking in the forest.
