Superior National Forest

Superior National Forest is a 3.9 million-acre forest in northeastern Minnesota between the North Shore of Lake Superior and the Canadian border.  Established in 1909, the forest protects a large area of boreal forest and waterways with numerous recreation opportunities.  The forest is also home to the million-acre Boundary Waters Canoe Area Wilderness.

The Gunflint Ranger District is the northeastern most district in the forest.
