Sangre de Cristo Wilderness

Sangre de Cristo Wilderness is a 220,000-acre Wilderness Area along the Sangre de Cristo Mountains in southern Colorado.  The wilderness is located in Great Sand Dunes National Preserve, San Isabel National Forest and Rio Grande National Forest.  There are four 14ers in the wilderness, including Crestone Needle, considered to be Colorado's most difficult.  Additionally, there are over 180 miles of trails throughout the wilderness.

Mosca Pass Trail:


Mosca Pass Trail starts in Great Sand Dunes National Preserve and follows Mosca Creek upstream entering the wilderness and ending at Mosca Pass in 3.5 miles.
