The Salida Ranger District of
San Isabel National Forest comprises the 440,000 acres in central Colorado. District lands are primarily in Chafee County, but also small portions in Lake, Fremont, Saguache, and Park Counties. There are seven 14ers in the district, three wilderness areas and Browns Canyon National Monument. Additionally, the district contains the headwaters of the Arkansas River, numerous campgrounds and hundreds of miles of trails.
