Ricketts Glen State Park

Ricketts Glen State Park is a 13,193-acre Pennsylvania State Park in Luzerne, Sullivan and Columbia Counties.  Within the park is the Glens Natural Area containing 21 named waterfalls on Kitchen Creek.  The land that is now the park once belonged to Robert Bruce Ricketts, a Civil War Colonel.  Most of the land was sold to the state through his heirs in the 1920s.  The Glen was considered for a National Park, but World War II ended these plans.  In 1942, Ricketts' heirs sold the Glen area to the state for a state park and it has since grown to its present size.  Today, the park contains many miles of hiking trails, including a loop hike through the glens, campgrounds, a swimming lake and opportunities for hunting and fishing.
