Pagosa Ranger District (San Juan)

The Pagosa Ranger District of San Juan National Forest comprises 585,770 acres in the eastern portion of the forest, stretching from Piedra River to Wolf Creek Pass.  District lands are located in Archuleta, Mineral, Hinsdale, Conejos and Rio Grande Counties.  Recreational opportunities in the district including camping, scenic driving, hunting, fishing, wildlife viewing, and hiking.

Piedra Special Management Area:


Piedra Special Management Area is managed like a wilderness and contains many miles of hiking trails and backpacking opportunities along the scenic Piedra River.


Treasure Falls Observation Site:


Treasure Falls Observation Site, located along US-160 15 miles east of Pagosa Springs, provides access to the 100-foot Treasure Falls.
