Segment 8 of the
Mountains-to-Sea Trail runs for 64.5 miles from
Hanging Rock State Park in Stokes County to Bryan Park in Guilford County. Also called Rivers, Railroads and Lakes, this segment explores small towns in the northern Piedmont Triad region from the Dan River basin to the Haw River basin. This segment includes about 41.6 miles on paved roads, 20.8 miles on trails and 2.1 miles on paved greenway trails.
Route:
The western trailhead is at
Hanging Rock State Park and from here, follows roads through Danbury and south into Forsyth County. The trail crosses into Guilford County and runs through
Cascades Preserve.
From here, the trail follows roads into Greensboro and runs along trails through the
Greensboro Watershed Lakes to Bryan Park, the eastern trailhead of Segment 8.
