NC MST Segment 12

Segment 12 of the Mountains-to-Sea Trail runs for 65.8 miles from Johnston County through Sampson and Cumberland County and ending in Bladen County.  Also called Agricultural Heartland, this segment passes through some of the most productive agricultural lands in North Carolina.  This segment includes about 63.6 miles on paved roads and 2.2 miles on trails.

Route:

The western trailhead is at Howell Woods Environmental Learning Center and passes through Bentonville Battlefield.

The trail then follows secondary roads across Sampson County, passing through the towns of Newton Grove and Roseboro.

The segment ends at Suggs Mill Pond Game Land.
