Bentonville Battlefield State Historic Site

Bentonville Battlefield is a North Carolina State Historic Site that is the site of the 1865 Battle of Bentonville.  The battle, fought between March 19 to 21, 1865, was the last full-scale action of the Civil War and the largest fought in North Carolina.  The site has a Visitor Center, the Harper House furnished as a Civil War Hospital and trails throughout the site, including part of Segment 12 of the statewide Mountains-to-Sea Trail.

There are several trails throughout the site, including over 2 miles of the Mountains-to-Sea Trail.

The History Trail is composed of several loops starting near the Visitor Center that goes along the trenches built for the battle.
