Hidden Springs Ranger District (Shawnee)

Hidden Springs Ranger District of Shawnee National Forest is in the eastern part of the forest.  There are two developed campgrounds and many more options for dispersed camping.  Many miles of hiking trails run through the district, including portions of the River to River Trail.  Several lakes and waterfalls are found in the district and it is home to the popular Garden of the Gods.

Burden Falls Wilderness:

Burden Falls Wilderness is a wilderness area containing a seasonal waterfall and scenic sandstone cliffs.

Garden of the Gods:

Garden of the Gods is a Recreation Area and Wilderness Area protecting beautiful sandstone rock formations.

Trigg Lookout Tower:

Trigg Lookout Tower is the only remaining fire tower in Shawnee National Forest.  Visitors are allowed to climb the tower for great views over the forest.
