Gully Creek Waterfall (Cumberland Knob)

There is a small but scenic waterfall along Gully Creek in Surry County, North Carolina.  The waterfall is located in Cumberland Knob along the Blue Ridge Parkway.

Directions:


From Sparta, head north on NC-18 for about 15 miles and turn left to get on Blue Ridge Parkway.  Turn right to go southbound on the parkway and turn left into Cumberland Knob after 0.4 miles.

Hike Description:


The Gully Creek Trail begins behind the Visitor Center.  Go left and the trail begins to descend steeply down towards Gully Creek.  There are several switchbacks along a small drainage that only has water during periods of rain.  At about 0.7 miles, the trail reaches Gully Creek at a crossing near the base of the waterfall.
