Currituck National Wildlife Refuge

Currituck National Wildlife Refuge is an 8,501-acre Wildlife Refuge in the norther Outer Banks in Currituck County, North Carolina.  The refuge protects several barrier island habitats, including sandy beaches, dunes, maritime shrubs, brackish marsh, and maritime forest.  Included in the state Game Land system, the refuge is open to hunting by permit.  Other outdoor activities permitted on the refuge include hiking, wildlife viewing and nature photography.  There are no amenities in the refuge and access is from the beach north of Corolla and limited to 4WD vehicles or foot travel.
