Saturday we flew to Denver for a week in the Rocky Mountains for shutdown. We arrived around 330 and got our car from Enterprise. We made a quick stop to stretch our legs at Rocky Mountain Arsenal National Wildlife Refuge. Much of the refuge was closed due to sylvatic plague spread by prairie dogs. We parked near Lake Mary and hiked what portions of the trail that were open.
A mother deer and fawns were grazing in the open meadow.
There were lots of wildflowers blooming as well.
The prickly poppy were really pretty.
Tenpetal blazing stars are evening bloomers and we saw a few of these.
The showy milkweed were done blooming, but there were lots of follicles.
We also saw a lot of grasshoppers. Two appeared to be mating in the middle of the trail.
After a short walk, we returned to the car.

We got fast food for dinner and then drove up to Wyoming and stayed at the Comfort Inn in Laramie. The hotel's hot tub was great and then we went to bed after a very long day.
