Upper Steels Creek Falls (Wilson Creek)

Upper Steels Creek Falls is a 50-foot waterfall on its namesake in Burke County, North Carolina.  The waterfall is located in the Wilson Creek area of Pisgah National Forest.

Directions:


From Morganton, head north on NC-181 for about 21 miles to FR-496 on the left. Alternately, if coming from the Blue Ridge Parkway, take NC-181 south for 6.2 miles to FR-496 on the right. Follow this gravel road for 1 mile to where it crosses Steels Creek. A pull-off is just past the crossing.

Hike Description:


A faint path on river left leads a couple hundred feet up to the base of the waterfall.  Unfortunately, it's very cluttered with downfall.
