Stones Creek Game Land

Stones Creek Game Land is a 4,120-acre North Carolina Game Land in Onslow County.  The Game Land is composed of three separate tracts and is named for Stones Creek that runs through the interior and drains into New River.  The area is located in the Mid-Atlantic Coastal Plain in the Onslow Bight Region.  The primary uses are hunting and fishing, but the area is also open to wildlife viewing and hiking and the Mountains-to-Sea Trail runs through the area.

Trails:


Mountains-to-Sea Trail:


A section of Segment 15 of the Mountains-to-Sea Trail runs across the Game Land, following sandy roads and trails for about 3.5 miles from NC-210 to US-17.


Otter Pond Trail:


Otter Pond Trail starts from Deer Lane near US-17 and makes a 1-mile loop around the scenic pond.


Wildlife:


Pitcher plants can be found in the Game Land.  In the winter, the pitchers die off.


Yaupon holly (Ilex vomitoria) is a species of holly found in the coastal plain.
