Step Falls Preserve (Mahoosuc)

Step Falls Preserve is a 24-acre nature preserve near Grafton Notch in Oxford County, Maine.  The preserve protects a narrow strip of land along Wight Brook including the waterfall.  The Wight Family donated the land that comprises the preserve to the Nature Conservancy in 1962.  In 2012, the Nature Conservancy transferred the land the Mahoosuc Land Trust, to allow a local organization to manage the land.  Today, the preserve includes a small parking area and a half-mile hiking trail that leads along the creek to the waterfall.

Directions:

From Bethel, head east on US-2 for about 6 miles and left on ME-26 north.  Drive 7.9 miles and turn right into the parking area for the preserve.  Note that parking along ME-26 is prohibited.
