Pisgah Covered Bridge

Pisgah Covered Bridge is one of only two remaining historical covered bridges in North Carolina.  Located near Asheboro in Randolph County, the bridge was constructed in 1911 for $40.  The 54-foot bridge crosses West Fork Little River in Uwharrie National Forest.  The bridge was preserved through through the collaboration of several groups - Land Trust for Central North Carolina (Three Rivers Land Trust), Piedmont Land Conservancy, the North Carolina Zoo Society and North Carolina Department of Transportation.  In addition to the bridge, there is a picnic area and quarter-mile trail to enjoy the area.

From Asheboro, head south on I-73/I-74 for about 6 miles to exit 68 for US-220 south.  Turn right on US-220 Bus south and immediately turn on NC-143 south.  Drive 4.4 miles and turn right on Burney Drive.  In 1.8 miles, turn left on Pisgah Covered Bridge Road and bear right to stay on this road in 0.3 miles.  At 1.9 miles from Burney Road, the covered bridge will be on the right.
