Ottawa National Forest

Ottawa National Forest covers almost one million acres in the western Upper Peninsula of Michigan.  The forests consists of wooded hills dotted with lakes and rivers with numerous scenic waterfalls throughout the forest.  Once heavily logged, Ottawa National Forest was established in 1931 after loggers abandoned much of the land in the Upper Peninsula.  Today, the forest has numerous recreation opportunities in all seasons.

Ranger Districts:


Bessemer Ranger District:


The Bessemer Ranger District is located in the northwest of the forest along the Wisconsin state line.


Waterfalls:


A number of beautiful waterfalls are located throughout the forest.
