Medicine Bow National Forest

Medicine Box National Forest is a more than 1,000,000-acre forest in southeastern Wyoming that is managed jointly with Routt National Forest and Thunder Basin National Grassland.  The forest is named for the mountain mahogany that was used by Native Americans to manufacture bows and to perform rituals to produce "medicine".

The Brush Creek/Hayden Ranger District is headquartered in Saratoga and administers the western portion of the forest.
