Lamar Alexander Rocky Fork State Park

Directions:


From Erwin, head east on I-26 for about 6 miles to exit 43.  Turn left on US-19W and then immediate right to stay on the highway.  In 1.1 miles, bear right onto TN-352 west.  Go 4.8 miles and turn right onto Rocky Fork Road.  Follow this narrow road for 1 mile to a gravel trailhead parking on the left.

Trails:


Birchfield Camp Trail


Birchfield Camp Trail follows old logging roads up into Cherokee National Forest and provides access to the highest point in Tennessee State Parks.


Flint Creek Trail


Flint Creek Trail splits from the end of Rocky Fork Trail and follows the creek upstream, passing the Flint Creek Battle Site.


Headwaters Trail


Headwaters Trail splits from the end of White Oak Flats Trail and leads to the headwaters of Rocky Fork.


Rocky Fork Trail


Rocky Fork Trail starts at the parking area and follows the creek upstream, ending at Flint Creek Trail and White Oak Flats Trail.


White Oak Flats Trail


White Oak Flats Trail splits from the end of Rocky Fork Trail and heads up along Rocky Fork, providing access to Headwaters Trail.


Whitehouse Cliffs Trail


Whitehouse Cliffs Trail starts from the Rocky Fork Trailhead and climbs up to a nice view from Whitehouse Knob.


Points of Interest:


Flint Creek Battle Site


Located along Flint Creek Trail, this is the site of a battle between John Sevier and the Cherokee in 1789.


Rocky Fork Falls


Rocky Fork Falls is a roadside waterfall heading into the park.


Tennessee State Parks Highest Point


The highest point in Tennessee State Parks is found along Birchfield Camp Trail at 4,310 feet, but there is no view from here.


Whitehouse Knob Overlook


An overlook at the end of Whitehouse Cliffs Trail with scenic views of the Rocky Fork area.
