Jamison Mill Park (Philpott)

Jamison Mill Park, nestled on the shores of Philpott Lake in Virginia, is a captivating destination that seamlessly blends natural beauty with rich historical significance.  Owned by the Army Corps of Engineers, the park is managed by Franklin County.  This picturesque park offers a delightful escape for both nature enthusiasts and history buffs. Directions:


From Rocky Mount, head west on VA-40 for about 9 miles and turn left on Fieldcrest Road/VA-805.  In 0.2 miles turn left and then immediate right on VA-623.  Follow for 3.8 miles and turn left on VA-605 and go 1 mile then right on VA-780.  Drive 1.9 miles and turn right into the park.

Bob Carter Trail:


Bob Carter Trail splits off from Dew Drop Loop and makes a partial loop along the lakeshore.


Golden Shore Trail:


Golden Shore Trail starts from near the boat ramp and follows the lakeshore closely before heading up and meeting with Red Rays Loop and Ridge Access Trails.


Red Rays Loop:


Red Rays Trail splits from Ridge Access Trail to make a loop.


Sunset Trail:


Sunset Trail splits from Dew Drops loop to make a partial loop around the western end of the park.

Mountain laurel (Kalmia latifolia)


Downy rattlesnake plantain (Goodyera pubescens)


Fire pink (Silene virginica)
