Illgen Falls (Tettegouche)

Illgen Falls is a 40-foot waterfall on Baptism River in Lake County, Minnesota.  The waterfall is located in Tettegouche State Park, though its not accessible from the main part of the park.

Directions:


From Duluth, head north on I-35 for about 2 miles and take exit 259 for MN-61 north towards the North Shore.  Follow MN-61 for 57.4 miles and turn left on County Road 1.  Drive 1.6 miles to a gravel pull off on the left side of the road.

Hike Description:


From the north end of the pull-off, follows the short trail past the rental cabin to Baptism River at the top of the waterfall.


Continue a short ways and look for a steep scramble path to get down to the base of the waterfall.
