Historic Yates Mill County Park

Historic Yates Mill is a 174-acre Wake County park in southern Raleigh near Lake Wheeler.  Yates Mill operated for more than 200 years as a water-powered mill.  North Carolina State University obtained the property in 1963 for experimental farms and field demonstrations.  Not in operation, the mill fell into disrepair.  In 1989, Yates Mill Associates formed to preserve and restore the mill and worked with Wake County to form a park.  Historic Yates Mill County park opened to the public in 2006 and features mill tours, education, and hiking trails.
