High Falls on Pigeon River (Grand Portage)

High Falls is a 120-foot waterfall on Pigeon River in Cook County on the US-Canada border, the highest in Minnesota.  The waterfall is in Grand Portage State Park.

From Grand Portage, head north on MN-61 for 5 miles.  Immediately before the Canadian border, turn left into Grand Portage State Park.

Hike Description:


The paved High Falls Trail starts just beyond the visitor center and towards the river.  In just under a half-mile, a boardwalk leads to three overlooks for the waterfall, the first being accessible.


Pigeon River makes the border between Minnesota and Ontario here and the waterfall can also be seen from the Canadian side.
