Hawks Nest State Park

From Fayetteville, head north on WV-16 for about 9 miles to US-60.  Turn right on US-60 east and drive 2.5 miles to the park.

Cliffside Trail


Cliffside Trail leads from the Midland Trail Shelter along steep cliffs towering over the river and ending near the Hawks Nest Overlook.


Hawks Nest Rail Trail


Hawks Nest Rail Trail, also called Ansted Rail Trail, leads from the base of the tram to the town of Ansted, following Mill Creek.

Fox Run Falls is a seasonal waterfall along Hawks Nest Rail Trail.


Hawks Nest Overlook


A short paved trail leads to this iconic overlook of Hawks Nest Lake and New River.

The remains of an old mine along Mill Creek are located down a short spur off Hawks Nest Rail Trail.


Mill Creek Falls


Mill Creek Falls is a scenic 20-foot waterfall along Hawks Nest Rail Trail.


Turkey Creek Falls


Turkey Creek Falls is a cascading waterfall along Cliffside Trail.


Upper Mill Creek Falls


Upper Mill Creek Falls is a small waterfall at the confluence of Rich Creek and Mill Creek along Hawks Nest Rail Trail.


Westlake Falls


Westlake Falls is a 15-foot waterfall at the confluence of Rich Creek and Mill Creek along Hawks Nest Rail Trail.
