Fall Creek Falls (Mayo River)

Fall Creek Falls is 15-foot waterfall on its namesake, a tributary of Mayo River in Rockingham County, North Carolina.  The waterfall is located in Mayo River State Park.

Directions:


From Mayodan, head north on US-220 BUS for about 3.5 miles and turn left onto US-220 north.  Drive 3.7 miles to the Smith Road exit and turn left.  Go 4.9 miles and turn on Anglin Mill Road for 0.4 miles.  Turn right on Deshazo Road and go 1 mile to the parking area on the left.  The road changes to gravel.

Hike Description:


Pick up the Fall Creek Falls Trail that leads past the picnic area and descends to Fall Creek.  Continue for just over 0.1 miles to the waterfall.  The trail comes out first near the top.


Continue past here to the base.  The trail continues to the confluence with Mayo River.
