Cary NC

Cary, located in Wake and Chatham Counties in the Research Triangle Region, is the largest town and seventh largest municipality in North Carolina.  The town was founded by Allison Francis Page after the Civil War, being incorporated in 1871.  Page named the town after Samuel Cary, a Congressman from Ohio and leader of the temperance movement.

American Tobacco Trail:


The town of Cary manages the Chatham County portion of the American Tobacco Trail.


Cary Greenway:


The Cary Greenway system consists of 80 miles of trails winding throughout the town.


Fred G. Bond Metro Park:


Fred G. Bond Metro Park is one of the largest municipal parks in the area and acts as a hub for the greenway system.


Hemlock Bluffs Nature Preserve:


Hemlock Bluffs State Natural Area is leased to the town of Cary as Hemlock Bluffs Nature Preserve, which protects an unusual population of eastern hemlocks along steep north-facing bluffs on Swift Creek.


Other Points of Interest:


William B. Umstead State Park: A state park nestled between Raleigh, Cary, and RDU airport with miles of hiking and multi-use trails.
