Camp Creek State Park & Forest

Camp Creek State Park and Forest comprise almost 6,000 acres of beautiful woodlands in southern West Virginia just off I-77.  Camp Creek State Park was formed in 1987 when 550 acres of Camp Creek State Forest were partitioned for a state park.  Combined, there are more than 35 miles of trails, including some that are open to biking and horseback riding, miles of streams for fishing and three campgrounds.

Directions:


Camp Creek State Park and Forest is located right off I-77 in southern West Virginia.  From Beckley, head south on I-77 for about 22 miles to exit 20 for US-19 and Camp Creek. Turn left onto US-19 and make an immediate right on Camp Creek Road. Drive 2.3 miles into the park.

Trails:


Blue Jay Ridge Road & Trail:


Blue Jay Ridge Road and Trail splits from Turkey Loop Road and Trail and leads along the ridge then descends down to Blue Jay Spur near Farley Ridge Road and Trail.

Blue Jay Spur Trail:


Blue Jay Spur leads from site #12 at Blue Jay Campground up to Farley Ridge Road and Trail.

Horse Bypass Trail:


Horse Bypass Trail starts from near Mash Fork Campground and bypasses the main picnic area where horses are prohibited.

Turkey Loop Road and Trail:


Turkey Loop Road and Trail starts from the Campbell Falls Trailhead and makes a large loop through the forest ending at Mash Fork Falls.

Camping:


There are three campgrounds at Camp Creek State Park.  Mash Fork Campground is a developed campground for tent and RV camping.  Blue Jay Campground is a more rustic campground for tent camping.  Double C Campground is for horseback camping.

Points of Interest:


Campbell Falls is a beautiful 15-foot waterfall on Camp Creek along Turkey Loop Road near the Blue Jay Campground.


Mash Fork Falls is a small waterfall near Mash Fork Campground.

American bellflower (Campanulastrum americanum)


Purple coneflower (Echinacea purpurea)
