286 Property (Wake County)

The 286 Property is a 150-acre tract between Lake Crabtree County Park and William B. Umstead State Park on airport property that is leased to Wake County as a park.  The property was known for illegal mountain bike trails on airport property.  Wake County leased part of this land and opened the trails to the public in 2023 for additional mountain biking in the Triangle area.  The public trails only include those trails in this tract of land and any trails on adjacent land are still illegal, so please stay on the public trails for hiking and mountain biking.  The county has plans to develop the area, but is currently managed as a satellite of Lake Crabtree.
