Sheyenne River State Forest

Sheyenne River State Forest is a 509-acre North Dakota State Forest in Ransom County.  Located just off the Sheyenne River National Scenic Byway, the forest contains 4 miles of the long-distance North Country National Scenic Trail.  The forested Sheyenne River Valley is unusual in a state dominated by open grasslands and prairies.  The forest was established in 1973 with 120 acres and grew to its present size with subsequent land purchases.  North Dakota's only waterfall is found in the forest.
