The Roanoke Valley area is located in the
Plateau District of the
Blue Ridge Parkway between mile posts 111 and 121 in Roanoke County and City of Roanoke,
Virginia. The City of Roanoke is the largest population center along the Parkway, but there is still ample opportunity to escape to nature. Several hiking opportunities exist in the area, from short trails less than a mile to a more moderate hike of more than 5 miles. Additionally, it is one of only a few areas on the Parkway to offer trails for horseback riding.
