Payson Ranger District (Tonto)

The Payson Ranger District consists of 450,000 acres of national forest land surrounding the town of Payson and extending north to the Mogollon Rim.  Landscapes in the district include chaparral, pinyon-juniper and ponderosa pine.  The district contains many miles of hiking trails, including the Highline National Recreation Trail, and several campgrounds.  Use caution with fires and comply with all regulations as this area is prone to wildfires.
