North Carolina Coastal Reserve

The North Carolina Coastal Reserve and National Estuarine Research Reserve is a program of the NC Department of Environmental Quality Division of Coastal Management.  It's a partnership between the state and National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration that protects more than 44,000 acres of estuary and coastal land for the protection of wildlife and and to support research.

Reserve Sites:


There are four National Reserve Sites and six State Reserve Sites.

Currituck Banks Reserve:


Currituck Banks Reserve is a National Reserve Site on the northern Outer Banks in Currituck County near Corolla.
